An Engagement Session at Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland

There is something about Bonnet Springs Park in the late afternoon — the way the light slips through the oaks and settles over the water — that makes it one of our favorite places in Lakeland to photograph two people in love.
We met this couple for a relaxed golden-hour engagement session and simply followed them through the park: across the boardwalks, along the water, and into the quiet pockets of garden where the light goes soft and warm. They spent most of the evening laughing — the ring came out, foreheads touched, and we mostly stayed out of the way and let them be themselves.
Partway through, the sky opened up — and instead of running for cover, they leaned in and laughed through it. Some of our favorite frames of the whole evening came from those few rainy minutes; there is a softness to a rainy-day engagement session that you simply cannot plan for. If the forecast looks iffy for your own date, take it from us — a little rain is never a reason to cancel.
Why Bonnet Springs Park is made for engagement photos
Bonnet Springs is one of the best things to happen to Lakeland in years — acres of gardens, mossy oaks, boardwalks, and water all in one place. For an engagement session that means you can move from open, sunny lawns to shaded garden paths to a lakeside overlook without ever getting back in the car. It is about thirty-five minutes from our home base in Plant City, and worth every mile.
A team that keeps it easy
An engagement session is usually the first time a couple has ever been photographed together on purpose, and that can feel a little awkward. Our job is to make it not. As a family-owned team of four sisters serving Lakeland, Plant City, and all of Tampa Bay, we photograph the way we'd want our own family remembered — naturally, warmly, and without stiff posing. Whether you are looking for a Lakeland engagement photographer or a Plant City engagement photographer close to home, the goal is the same: photographs that feel like the two of you.
Planning your own Bonnet Springs session
A few things we have learned shooting here:
- Arrive about ninety minutes before sunset for that warm, golden light.
- What to wear: soft, complementary tones — creams, tans, warm neutrals — look beautiful against the park's greens. Skip bright neons and big logos.
- Wear comfortable shoes. The prettiest spots are a short stroll along the boardwalks and garden paths.
- Check park hours and event-space rules before you lock in your date.
